One of the most well-educated women of her time, Shelley poured her erudition into the creation of her masterpiece.

The Nobel Prize in Literature has been awarded 109 times to 113 Nobel Laureates between 1901 and 2016. Out of those, women have received 14.

She wrote a rich trilogy about life in Scandinavia in the Middle Ages, portrayed through one woman’s experiences from cradle to grave.
